Engineered, Solid & SPC-Core Hardwood

Most Hallmark Hardwood Floors are engineered, which means a real hardwood top layer is bonded to a stable, multi-ply core. Because that build resists the expansion and contraction humidity can cause, engineered Hallmark Hardwood Flooring performs beautifully in Kentucky and Southern Indiana homes, including basements and rooms over concrete. Hallmark also offers a 3/4″ solid line (Organic Solid) that can be sanded and refinished for generations, plus an SPC-core build (Regatta) for extra dimensional stability. How to Care for Your Hallmark Hardwood Floors

With a little routine care, your Hallmark Hardwood Floors will stay beautiful for years. One important note: Nu Oil® and Glaze Tek finishes use different cleaners, so ask us which is right for your floor. Here are the simple do’s and don’ts for keeping Hallmark Hardwood Flooring looking its best.

Maintenance by finish: Nu Oil® vs. TrueMark® Glaze Tek

The single most important care rule for Hallmark Hardwood Floors is to match the cleaner to the finish. An oiled floor and a sealed floor are maintained differently, and using the wrong product — or the wrong vacuum — can dull the finish and void the warranty. Here is how the two finishes compare.

The bottom line: oiled Nu Oil® floors get an oil cleaner and the occasional ReNu refresher; sealed Glaze Tek floors get a poly cleaner and are simply kept clean. Swapping the two — or using oil soap, wax, or a 2-in-1 polish on either — can damage the finish and void coverage. Not sure which you have? Several collections (Ventura and Novella) use both finishes depending on species, so just ask us and we’ll match the right product.

Please note: for most Hallmark Hardwood Floors the finish isn’t a choice — it’s built into the collection and color. Many styles come in only one finish, either Nu Oil® or TrueMark® Glaze Tek, not both. Only a few lines (such as Ventura and Novella) split finishes by species, and even then a given color is offered in just one. So when you pick a color, its finish usually comes with it — ask us and we’ll confirm exactly which finish your color carries.

A note on radiant heat & warranty: Hallmark’s engineered oak collections can be installed over hydronic (water-based) radiant heat as long as the surface stays at or below 80°F — but all hickory and solid-wood products are excluded from the radiant-heat warranty. Wet mopping or using non-approved cleaners also voids coverage. So when in doubt, ask us for the right Hallmark product for your finish; of course, you can pick one up at either showroom.
